Rizeth Velkon'yss

Description

Tall by drow standards, Rizeth is an imposing presence in the hallsof the Arcanum, and his hard to read, flat expression doesn't help matters. He has violet-grey skin and sharp, sculpted features, with piercingly bright crimson eyes. He usually wears his hair pulled back into a simple tie, and doesn't bother with adornments of any kind save for his Arcanum Master's pin.

His severity, however, only serves to enhance his attractiveness to certain Arcanum students, helped by the fact that his voice sounds like dark chocolate, and the sharp edges of his Menzoberranzan accent fill his tone with command it's not possible to ignore. (And if you're Ashenivir, just the sound of it starts causing you Problems).

About

Outwardly cold and harsh, with no patience for nonsense, Rizeth comes across as aloof and selfish. His avoidance of any social connection doesn't help matters - it's not for nothing he gained the nickname Archbastard among the student populace of the Arcanum. But although he's taken as mean, he isn't cruel. He's fiercely protective of those he cares about, even if the ways he shows it aren't exactly soft and fluffy. And underneath all the masks he wears to try and keep himself safe, he has a hugely caring heart.

A skilled Master of magic, his main focus is on theory, which is what he teaches. His training allows him to access other forms of magic outside of wizardry - though this isn't easy - and has also seen him develop several new spells. A lot of them are for sex and kink, but hey, man's gotta have a hobby, right?

Rizeth's control serves him well in the bedroom; he's an excellent Dom, and enjoys that position of control. He loves inflicting things on his submissive, be it pain or pleasure or both.

Backstory

Born to a family of nothing in Menzoberranzan, Rizeth was plucked from obscurity by the whim of the Matron of House Velkon'yss. After spending some years as a consort to her and her daughters, he eventually made his way to Sorcere, where studying magic was a welcome escape from the horrors of Lolthite society.

A short while after the Silence of Lolth, he was sent with a group of House Velkon'yss soldiers to investigate the disappearance of one of their trade caravans. During the search, the group was attackd, and Rizeth saw an opportunity to escape and took it. After wandering the Underdark, fearing he wouldn't survive, he eventually stumbled on a party of Mythen Thaelan traders heading for Neverwinter. He hid among them with magic, but was caught by not-yet-Archmage Seldszar T'sonri.

"Do what you will with me, just don't send me back," was his declaration. He didn't go back; he instead ended up on the surface. Alone.

Survival in Neverwinter necessitated manual labour and survival sex work - which is where Kelran Stillgleam found him. After a rocky first meeting, Kelran whisked him away to Waterdeep and introduced him to the House, where he finally began to com into his own.

It was during this time he met his first love, Elian'la. Several years of relationship later, they fell apart, and that breakup damaged him for all the decades to come. It was after they split that he took a full position as a Master at the Arcanum, and aside from a few visits to Waterdeep over the years, that's where he's stayed. Alone.

Relationships

His most important relationship is of course with Ashenivir. He didn't mean to fall for him, but the boy is so beautiful, and intelligent, and curious, and skilled, and submissive, and and and and Rizeth accidentally went head over heels for him inside a year, and it's been nothing but pining ever since. There's nothing Rizeth wouldn't do for him, to keep him happy.

He has two friends at the Arcanum: Lyzira Xiltael, and Seldszar T'sonri. Lyzira simply walks all over his grouchy exterior and insists on dragging him out to dinner and such, and enjoys teasing him. He only mostly pretends to be annyoed by it. Seldszar is also his boss, and his one-time rescuer, so it's a somewhat interesting friendship, but Seldszar does care for him, and wants him to be happy in Mythen Thaelas.

On the surface, his main friend is Kelran, who, much like Lyzira, simply steamrolls over his grumpy nature and drags him kicking and screaming into society. Kelran feels rather protective towards him, given how they met and what happened with Elian'la, who Kelran introduced him to in the first place.
